Working Conditions Aboard the Scot-Berlin

An overtaking maneuver on the Kiel Canal near the Total bunker pier on March 27, 2012, resulted in notable damage to vessels in the area. At approximately 12:50 AM, the Cyprus-flagged container ship 'Transanund' attempted to pass the slower container vessel 'Heinrich Ehler,' causing substantial suction and swell that affected the nearby tank vessel 'Wappen von Berlin.' This disruption led to the breaking of a bow line and caused the gangway to slip over a bunker hose. Authorities initiated an investigation into the actions of the second officer aboard the freighter, suspecting that the speed during the maneuver was inappropriate. Consequently, the officer was required to post a security deposit. The Water Police are currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.
