On the afternoon of June 22, 2018, a critical medical emergency unfolded involving the tanker 'Sea Passion' as it navigated the waters of Maldonado Bay. The Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) alerted naval authorities regarding a crew member who had sustained a severe laceration to his hand. In a timely response, the MRCC orchestrated a medical radio consultation with the Search and Rescue (SAR) team, who promptly advised that immediate first aid measures be taken to stabilize the injured sailor. Following protocol, the tanker was instructed to alter its course towards a designated anchorage area close to Maldonado Bay. There, the ROU 'Vanguardia' successfully executed the medevac, retrieving the injured crew member for transport to medical facilities.
