On March 28, 2016, Norwegian Coastguard acted fast to assist the trawler 'Sevryba 1', which found itself disabled due to a fouled propeller while carrying 36 crew members off the Vesteråls bank. Struggling with significant engine troubles in harsh conditions 45 miles west of Lofoten, the trawler was adrift in hurricane-force winds and ten-meter high waves. Responding promptly, the Coastguard's 'Sortland' was on patrol nearby and reached the casualty around 7:30 a.m. The crew faced a daunting task to secure a towing wire as a trawl bag was drifting perilously close to their bow. After a challenging second attempt, they successfully established a towing connection at approximately 9:10 a.m., pulling at a speed of 5.5 knots towards the Hadselfjord.
