On November 9, 2019, at approximately 1 a.m., while the bulk carrier 'Silver Millie' was lowering its anchor at the Alpha anchorage in Batangas, an unauthorized individual was spotted attempting to scale the anchor chain. The vigilant duty anchor officer observed the intruder's actions, including attempts to access the ship through the hawse pipe. In a quick response, the officer shook the anchor chain, resulting in the intruder losing their grip and falling into the water. Following this incident, a team from the Philippine Coast Guard boarded the vessel to conduct a preliminary investigation. The Coast Guard subsequently recommended that the vessel's Master implement enhanced security protocols to prevent future security breaches.
