Upon arrival, the French Army deployed a military helicopter that successfully airlifted the passenger from the ship and transported them to Noumea for necessary medical treatment. On July 8, 2024, a serious medical emergency unfolded aboard the Pacific Explorer shortly after its departure from Auckland. At approximately 03:50 a.m., a young passenger experienced a critical health issue, leading to an immediate response by Hato Hone St John, a dedicated charitable organization. The situation was swiftly assessed, and the passenger was subsequently transported to Auckland City Hospital in serious condition. Additionally, the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) supervised the incident, making the pivotal decision to return the vessel to Auckland to ensure a prompt medevac. Upon the ship's arrival back at port, the young passenger was safely evacuated, with the Police Maritime Unit aiding in the transfer to the hospital, ensuring that the individual received urgent medical care.
