Sten-Nordic Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On December 8, 2017, a Finnish pilot boat tragically capsized in the turbulent waters of the Gulf of Finland, just south of the Porvoo Lighthouse, while attempting to pick up a pilot from the merchant vessel 'Sten Nordic'. The pilot boat was found floating upside down, and the two crew members on board were reported missing. The 'Sten Nordic' did not participate in the rescue operation, which involved the mobilization of two helicopters, numerous other pilot boats, and the lifeboat 'Rescue Aktia Porvoo' (MMSI: 230012240). The Finnish Coast Guard vessel 'Turva' was in command of the rescue efforts. Divers from the Navy and Coast Guard undertook the challenging task of attempting to penetrate the 15-meter-long capsized craft, while the Coast Guard planned to flip the vessel to ascertain whether the missing crew had become trapped inside.
