The Sten-Pontos: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

In a commendable act of assistance, the oil tanker 'Sten Pontos' came to the aid of a migrant boat on the morning of August 24, 2025. While navigating from Santa Panagia to Gibraltar, the vessel detected the stranded migrants approximately 28 nautical miles off Cabo de Gata, near Almería. At about 4:30 a.m., the crew promptly alerted the CCS of Salvamento Marítimo about their location and maintained their position next to the migrant boat until the arrival of the search and rescue vessel 'Salvamar Spica'. The dedicated crew of 'Salvamar Spica' successfully rescued all seven migrants around 6:45 a.m. and safely transported them to the port of Almería by approximately 9:00 a.m., ensuring their safe return to land.

On January 10, 2020, at approximately 4:50 PM, the cargo vessel 'Bro Nakskov', which was making its way from Hamburg to Kaliningrad, encountered an incident while maneuvering in the large northern lock of the Kiel Canal located in Brunsbüttel. During the mooring process, a significant mishap occurred as the forespring of the vessel became lodged beneath a wooden fender that was affixed to the lock's wall. Efforts to rectify the situation led to the fender breaking in two. Authorities promptly initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event. Fortunately, the 'Bro Nakskov' was permitted to resume its journey to Kaliningrad and successfully arrived at its destination on January 12 at 5:00 PM.
