Working Conditions Aboard the Stena-Imagination

In a significant milestone for the maritime industry, the MR tanker Stena Imagination has officially been delivered from the Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI) shipyard in China. This state-of-the-art vessel marks the seventh addition to the fleet of 13 IMOIIMAX tankers that Stena Bulk has ordered. Co-owned equally by Stena Bulk and Indonesia’s Golden Agri Resources (GAR), the Stena Imagination will be managed by Stena Weco, a key player in the company’s expansive global logistics network, which consists of around 60 vessels. The IMOIIMAX represents a sophisticated evolution of an already successful shipping concept. Designed collaboratively by Stena Teknik and GSI, this innovative tanker comes with a range of benefits, including enhanced cargo flexibility, improved safety measures, and remarkable fuel efficiency—offering a reduction of 10-20% in fuel consumption compared to similar vessels operating at service speed. In terms of specifications, the Stena Imagination boasts a length of 183 meters, a beam of 32 meters, and a deadweight of 50,000 tons, positioning it as a formidable addition to the maritime market.
