In a dramatic incident on December 24, 2019, the oil tanker 'Stena Immortal' faced an attempted hijack in the Singapore Strait. The vessel's captain alerted the crew after discovering the presence of intruders on board. Fortunately, the assailants abandoned their plans and escaped in a small boat, evading capture within the heavily trafficked eastbound traffic separation zone of one of the world's busiest maritime routes. The swift action of the crew likely prevented what could have been a more serious situation.

On September 14, the IMOIIMAX tanker Stena Immortal was officially delivered from the Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI) shipyard located in southeast China. This impressive vessel marks the eighth addition to a series of 13 IMOIIMAX tankers that Stena Bulk ordered back in 2012. Jointly owned by Stena Bulk and Indonesia's Golden Agri Resources (GAR), the Stena Immortal is set to enhance Stena Weco’s operational capabilities. The tanker will operate within Stena’s extensive global logistics network, which currently utilizes approximately 60 vessels to optimize its supply chain.
