Stena Bulk Completes Acquisition of Stena Weco Shares to Enhance Fleet Operations
In a strategic move to strengthen its market position, Stena Bulk has finalized the acquisition of the remaining 50% shares of Stena Weco from its former partner, WECO Shipping. This acquisition now makes Stena Weco a wholly-owned subsidiary of Stena Bulk. The head office of Stena Weco will continue operations in Denmark alongside its regional offices located in Singapore, Dubai, and Houston. As part of the agreement, WECO Shipping will manage their controlled fleet within the existing Stena Weco logistics framework. Currently, Stena Weco operates approximately 65 vessels, with an even split between owned and chartered ships. Erik Hånell, President and CEO of both Stena Bulk and Stena Weco, stated, 'After six highly successful years of collaboration, the strategic visions of both companies have evolved. This agreement not only resolves our partnership status but also enhances the operational capabilities of both parties moving forward.'
Delivery of Stena Weco Impulse Marks Milestone for Stena Bulk and Weco Group
In a significant development for maritime logistics, the Stena Weco Impulse, a chemical and product tanker co-owned equally by Stena Bulk and the Danish Weco Group, has officially been delivered from the CSSC Offshore & Marine Engineering shipyard in Guangzhou, China. The Stena Weco Impulse is part of the advanced IMOIIMAX class and represents the sixth vessel in a series of 13 that have been commissioned by Stena Bulk. Following its delivery, the tanker is set to navigate towards various Indonesian ports to take on a cargo of vegetable oils. After loading, the Stena Weco Impulse will continue its journey to European ports, specifically Barcelona and Rotterdam, where it will unload its valuable cargo. A celebratory naming ceremony is scheduled to take place in Copenhagen in June 2016, marking another milestone for this innovative maritime partnership.
