On January 3, 2019, the STI Acton, carrying a crew of 22, faced significant electrical issues with engine No.1 while navigating at coordinates 50°24.4092'N, 00°27.3640'W, approximately 23 miles southeast of Sesey Bill at 9:30 p.m. The tanker was on its way from Nowlo, Waterloo to Bilbao, transporting 35,110 tonnes of diesel oil. Following the electrical malfunction, the crew promptly notified Dover Coastguard and initiated a Defrep after veering off the south-west bound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme (TSS). To ensure safety, they requested that security messages be broadcasted to alert nearby vessels of their status as 'not under command.' Throughout the incident, Solent Coastguard monitored the vessel's welfare at intervals of 60 minutes. At the time of the incident, the tanker was drifting at a speed of 2.4 knots on a heading of 234 degrees. After successfully completing the necessary repairs and testing the new component, the STI Acton resumed its voyage to Bilbao, with an estimated arrival date set for January 6.

Scorpio Tankers Inc. has officially taken delivery of its latest vessel, the STI Acton, a Handymax Ice Class 1A product tanker. The ship was handed over by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD) in September 2014. Following its delivery, the STI Acton commenced a time charter that is set to run for up to 120 days, with rates aligned to current market conditions. This acquisition strengthens Scorpio's fleet as they continue to enhance their operational capabilities in ice navigation.
