Cuban Migrants Rescued by Tanker Crew and Coast Guard
In a remarkable maritime rescue on April 22, 2021, the crew of the tanker 'STI Brixton' came to the aid of two Cuban migrants who were signaling for help from a raft approximately 70 miles southwest of Marathon. The tanker was in transit from Montreal to New Orleans, with an estimated time of arrival (ETA) set for April 25. Following the rescue, the Coast Guard Cutter Charles 'Sexton' picked up the two individuals. Just a day later, on April 26, the Coast Guard Cutter 'Isaac Mayo' successfully repatriated the migrants back to Cuba.
