On the morning of October 14, 2025, a medical emergency unfolded aboard the tanker 'Stolt Sincerity' as it navigated the Western Scheldt close to Terneuzen at coordinates 51° 24' N 003° 46' E, just before 9:30 a.m. The vessel was making its way from Le Havre to Antwerp when a crew member experienced a sudden health issue while the ship was anchored for bunkering operations near Everingen-C. In a swift response, fellow crew members provided initial care before the affected individual was transported to the ship's hospital. Emergency services were promptly alerted, leading to the deployment of the Coastguard helicopter Rescue 08, stationed at Midden-Zeeland Airport, to offer immediate support on board. Additionally, the KNRM lifeboat 'Zeemanshoop' from the Breskens station and the nearby Rijkswaterstaat patrol boat 'RWS 78' were dispatched for assistance. The 'Zeemanshoop' successfully transferred two crew members equipped with medical supplies to aid the medical personnel attending to the patient. Upon assessment, it was determined that the crew member required further medical evaluation at a hospital. At the medic's recommendation, the 'Zeemanshoop' coordinated with emergency dispatch to have an ambulance ready for transport from the helicopter landing site in Goes. The crew member was carefully secured in a specialized harness and brought to the deck, then hoisted into the helicopter alongside the medic. Once the operation was completed, the crew members returned to the 'Zeemanshoop,' which then made its way back to the station.
