On December 10, 2013, the tanker "Atria" came to the aid of the disabled fishing vessel "Arokiya Matha" amid challenging sea conditions near the New Mangalore coast. At approximately 8:40 a.m., the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai received an urgent distress signal from the Kochi-based fishing vessel, reporting one crew member in need of medical attention and an engine failure. The MRCC promptly directed the nearby tanker "Atria", which was en route to Singapore, to change its course and provide necessary assistance. The crew of the "Atria" acted swiftly by delivering a towing line and medical supplies to the fishing vessel, enabling them to begin towing operations. The rescue operation concluded successfully when the "Atria" released the towing line near Mangalore, while coordinating with the Indian Coast Guard Ship "Abheek". Following this, the Coast Guard dispatched a boarding team equipped with a first aid kit and technical experts to help repair the "Arokiya Matha"'s engine. Once stabilized, the fishing vessel was taken under the care of a Coastal Security Police boat, guiding it safely to the old port at Bunder. Fortunately, all crew members aboard the "Arokiya Matha" were reported safe after the ordeal.
