This accolade is presented by The Japan Society of Naval Architects and Ocean Engineers (JASNAOE) and acknowledges vessels that epitomize technological innovation, superior design, and social responsibility. These distinguished carriers stand out as they are the world's first methanol carriers equipped with main engines capable of utilizing methanol as fuel. Announced on December 10, 2013, these ships represent a collaborative effort from four leading companies in the maritime sector, marking a significant advancement in eco-friendly shipping solutions. The Technology Special Prize recognizes only a select few vessels, with the methanol carrier series being just one of four ships to receive this honor in the last 27 presentations of the Ship of the Year awards.
