The Titania: New Roll-On Roll-Off Vessel Named by Malta's President's Wife
In a significant maritime event, Margaret Abela, the spouse of Malta's President, officially named the Titania, a new roll-on roll-off vessel operated by Wilh. Wilhelmsen. The ceremony took place at the picturesque Valletta Waterfront in Malta, adding a touch of local pride to the ship's launch. The Titania is an impressive 227.8-meter car and truck carrier, crafted at the renowned Daewoo Shipbuilding and Engineering yard. This state-of-the-art vessel boasts a capacity for 7,800 units and proudly flies the Maltese flag. The management of Titania is in the capable hands of Wilhelmsen Ship Management, based in Kuala Lumpur. Notably, the Wilh. Wilhelmsen Group has plans to expand its fleet with the delivery of seven additional vessels throughout 2012. Titania also marks the fifth vessel under Wilhelmsen's ownership to sail under the Maltese flag, following their establishment of a local subsidiary back in 2008. With Malta housing over 5,800 ships on its register, the country proudly stands as the largest ship registry in Europe, recognized by the Paris MoU.
