Vemahonesty Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On February 15, 2020, at approximately 1 a.m., the bulk carrier 'Vemahonesty' was engaged in a ship-to-ship cargo transfer just off the coast of Lome, Togo, when it encountered two unusual incidents involving fishing vessels. The first incident involved a blue fishing boat carrying eight individuals, which approached the 'Vemahonesty' twice. Shortly afterwards, two wooden fishing boats appeared, manned by a total of 21 crew members, and remained alongside the carrier for about 29 minutes. Fortunately, no weapons or boarding tools were observed on any of the fishing vessels, and the crew of the 'Vemahonesty' reported that nothing was taken during these encounters.

The situation surrounding the tanker 'Ganga' has taken a disheartening turn as it has been marooned at Lagos anchorage since September 17, 2016. In a concerning development, the crew reported to the Ukrainian Trade Union about outstanding wage arrears on November 16, indicating that the vessel may have been forsaken by its owners. This distressing scenario raises questions about the welfare of the crew and the responsibilities of maritime ownership.
