In a significant move for maritime operations, Gotlandsbolaget has secured a new charter for the ferry 'Visborg' with the renowned Spanish shipping company Balearia. This collaboration marks an exciting chapter for the 'Visborg,' which will embark on routes connecting key destinations such as Valencia, Palma, and Ibiza, among others. This latest charter agreement comes after an existing rental arrangement initiated in May 2023, when Gotlandsbolaget leased the vessel to Balearia for services operating between Almeria and Nador. Following the conclusion of that charter in September, the 'Visborg' briefly served DFDS for transport between Klaipeda and Karlshamn before undergoing a shipyard maintenance visit in Landskrona. The ferry is now making its way back to Almería, having departed from Landskrona on January 1, 2024. The new contract ensures that Wallenius Marine will continue to oversee ship management for the 'Visborg,' which has had a diverse charter history, including participation in DFDS's Brexit operations between Dunkirk and Rosslare. In preparation for this charter, Wallenius Marine has announced a recruitment drive for multiple positions aboard the vessel, ensuring a robust crew for its upcoming voyages.

On July 5, 2019, at 9:15 a.m., the ferry 'Visby' encountered a grounding incident in the port of Oskarshamn while carrying over 700 passengers. Strong winds, which reached speeds of 17 to 19 meters per second, contributed to the vessel swaying beyond its standard turning radius, leading to the bottom touch. Despite the mishap, the ferry successfully maneuvered to the quay where it was temporarily sidelined for safety evaluations. Divers conducted a thorough examination of the hull, confirming that no operational damage was found. Following the inspections, 'Visby' is scheduled to resume its journey to Visby at 6 p.m.

On July 7, 2016, at 4:30 p.m., a small fire erupted on the car deck of the ferry 'Visby' just after it departed from Visby port. In response to the situation, the captain made the prudent decision to turn back to the harbor, safely docking at 5:15 p.m. Despite being fully booked, the passengers were promptly informed about the incident. Investigations revealed that the source of the smoke originated from a refrigeration unit of a cargo trailer. Thankfully, the onboard fire-fighting team quickly extinguished the fire without further incident.
