Bahri Expands Fleet with Acquisition of Two VLCCs
Saudi Arabia's National Shipping Company, known as Bahri, has made a strategic move by acquiring two Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), each with a deadweight tonnage of 321,200 dwt. The vessels, named Blue Topaz and Blue Pearl, were purchased from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine for $78 million apiece. These acquisitions come after the ships remained unsold throughout the summer months. The official announcement of the sale was made on Tuesday, with brokers confirming the transaction on Thursday. Both ships were constructed in 2010, further enhancing Bahri's robust fleet.
