Eletson Corp, a prominent Greek shipping company, has made a strategic move by acquiring two MR1 product tankers, Meliora Cogito and Morgane, from their compatriots at Product Shipping and Trading, a member of the Oceanbulk group. The deal, valued at $37 million for the duo, underscores Eletson's commitment to diversifying its fleet. Both vessels, each with a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of 37,600, were constructed in South Korea in 2006 and will become the smallest tankers in Eletson's fleet, which predominantly features LR1 and LR2 product tankers. This acquisition follows Eletson's recent purchase of two LR1s, Senatore and Noemi, from Scorpio Tankers for $44 million, and an additional LR1, Anna Victoria, acquired for $22.3 million from Sweden’s Gotland Rederi. Eletson continues to position itself as a key player in the product tanker market, enhancing its operational capacity and fleet versatility.
