Indonesian Navy Intercepts Two Tankers for Export Violations Before Palm Oil Ban

Apr 28, 2022 11:01

In a significant enforcement action, the Indonesian navy seized two tankers on April 28, 2022, just a day before a pivotal export ban on palm oil came into effect. The vessels involved are the 'World Progress' and the 'Annabelle', both caught violating essential shipping regulations. The 'World Progress', which was transporting 34,854.3 tonnes of palm olein from Dumai on Sumatra island to Kandla, faced scrutiny for discrepancies in its travel documentation. Meanwhile, the 'Annabelle', seized near Borneo island while on its way to Shajrah, was found to be carrying methanol without the necessary export permits. This operation underscores Indonesia's commitment to stricter regulation enforcement following the midnight implementation of the export ban initiated on April 27.

Coast Guard Rescues Injured Crew Member from High Progress Near San Francisco

May 08, 2019 09:44

On May 7, 2019, a dramatic medevac operation unfolded off the San Francisco coastline when the U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew skillfully rescued a 28-year-old man injured on the oil tanker known as the "High Progress." The incident began at approximately 2:20 p.m. when Coast Guard watchstanders were alerted via email about an injured crew member who had suffered a neck injury after a fall. Due to the limitations of available aircraft, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco could not be immediately dispatched. Watchstanders closely monitored the situation as the tanker made its way towards San Francisco. It wasn't until around 4:20 p.m. that the Dolphin crew arrived at the scene, about 65 miles off the coast. They successfully hoisted the injured man and proceeded to transport him to Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto for urgent medical care.
