On May 18, 2023, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) carried out a critical medevac operation for two crew members from the tanker 'Xante' off the coast of Kochi. The injured sailors, Ambrose Antony, 48, and Pradeep Jaiswal, 32, were reported to have sustained severe second-degree burns while working in the engine room. The vessel was navigating from RAK Maritime City in the UAE to Chennai, with an estimated arrival date of May 22. The emergency signal was received by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Mumbai at approximately 7 a.m., prompting the ICG team in Kochi to mobilize a rescue operation. The Coast Guard vessel 'C-162' departed from Kochi, heading towards the tanker, which was located around 30 nautical miles from the shore. The injuries were inflicted when hot lubricant oil accidentally spilled on the crew members' hands. Upon reaching the 'Xante', the medical team swiftly conducted the transfer of the injured sailors. By 9 a.m., the crew members were safely brought to the Coast Guard Jetty in Kochi and were immediately transported to a private hospital for advanced medical care.

On April 26, 2016, the tanker 'Black Pearl' encountered a significant engine failure while navigating the Coral Sea, just east of Gladstone, Australia. At the time, the vessel was making its way from Kaohsiung to Gladstone. As the situation unfolded, the 'Black Pearl' began to drift perilously close to the coastline. Fortunately, the tugboat 'SL Targinnie' (IMO: 9488724) quickly responded to the distress call, successfully taking the tanker in tow. Together, the convoy is now making its way towards Cairns, maintaining a speed of five knots as they navigate the waters.
