In recent days, concerns have emerged surrounding several Russian fishing vessels, namely the 'Kapelan' and 'Saami', which have been navigating the Ullsfjord near Laukøya in North Troms. These trawlers have been observed moving back and forth in this area for over a day, prompting unease among local authorities. Currently, a total of 10 Russian trawlers are taking refuge in Troms, while an additional three vessels are docked in Tromsø. The situation is similar further north, where the Russian trawler 'Yagry' was anchored at Laukøya, situated east of Arnøya. This influx of trawlers follows a yellow warning issued for severe winds and high waves in the region. The Norwegian defense has confirmed that the trawlers were granted permission to seek shelter from inclement weather, a protocol in place for fishing vessels during storms. According to officials, the vessels have been assigned safe harbors, ensuring that authorities maintain a comprehensive awareness of maritime activity along the coast.
