In a distressing maritime incident, the tanker 'Shun Sheng' collided with the tugboat 'Koi 3' while towing the sand barge 'Koi 5' on February 7, 2019, at approximately 5 a.m. in the Singapore Strait, near coordinates 01-09.9 N and 103-41.41 E, just west of Senang Island. The collision resulted in the capsizing of the tug, leading to a crisis for its six-member crew. Fortunately, four crew members were rescued, but two, identified as Dodi Maulana and Budi Setiyono, remain missing. A Search and Rescue (SAR) operation has been launched, involving multiple vessels, including at least two ships, and speedboats 'MPA 3', 'MPA 4', and 'MPA 6', in addition to the SAR-ship 'Purwerejo 101' and a boat from the Riau Silands Regional Police. The efforts are being coordinated by the Singapore Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC). At the time of the incident, the 'Shun Sheng' was making its way through the Singapore Strait, traveling from Hong Kong to Lumut, Malaysia, and did not halt following the collision.
