On October 31, 2016, a dramatic rescue operation was carried out by the U.S. Coast Guard when a 29-year-old crew member from the tanker 'Agena' required urgent medical attention due to severe hernia symptoms. The incident unfolded approximately 15 miles off the coast of Galveston, specifically within the Fairway Anchorage area. At around 1 p.m., the vessel's master reached out to watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston, reporting that the mess cook had been enduring increasingly severe discomfort for the past few days. In response, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Houston was dispatched to facilitate the emergency medevac. Arriving on scene around 2 p.m., the helicopter crew successfully hoisted the individual from the tanker before swiftly transporting him to Scholes International Airport in Galveston.
