In a dramatic incident on July 26, 2015, the Greek Coastguard experienced a near disaster when their vessel collided with the cruise ship 'Aegean Paradise' in the port of Chios around 6 a.m. The 'Aegean Paradise,' en route from Chios to Cesme, struck the starboard side of the Coastguard boat, which had been rescuing 25 migrants from the sea shortly before the accident occurred. Dense fog in the area significantly reduced visibility to less than 10 meters, contributing to the unfortunate collision. Fortunately, everyone aboard the Coastguard vessel escaped unharmed, and the overturned boat was later retrieved from the water at a nearby facility. Following the incident, the cruise ship was instructed to anchor for a thorough inspection.
