Working Conditions Aboard the Chemway-Arrow

On January 15, 2025, a medical emergency prompted the evacuation of a crew member aboard the 'Chemway Arrow', a tanker traveling from Saudi Arabia to Dongguan. The swift action was initiated by KPLP officers along with a collaborative team from Basarnas Banda Aceh, KKP Ulee-Lheue, shipping agents, and Immigration officers. The operation took place in the northern waters near Banda Aceh, where the 30-year-old Myanmar national required urgent medical assistance. The Basarnas Banda Aceh Search and Rescue vessel, named 'Kresna', departed from Ulee-Lheue Port at 6:30 a.m. WIB and reached the vessel at 7:45 a.m. Medical personnel from KKP, alongside the ship’s agents and KSOP officers, boarded the 'Chemway Arrow' at 7:50 a.m. to evaluate the patient's condition, bringing along the Basarnas evacuation team for support. At 8:15 a.m., the affected crew member was safely transferred onto the 'Kresna', which made its way back to Ulee-Lheue Port, arriving at 9:30 a.m. Following the arrival, the crew member was transported via ambulance to Zainal Abidin General Hospital in Banda Aceh for further medical care.
