Florida-Voyager Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On September 17, 2023, General Dynamics NASSCO celebrated a significant milestone with the christening of the BAY STATE, the fourth ECO Class tanker for American Petroleum Tankers (APT), at its shipyard located in San Diego. The ceremony featured U.S. Representative Juan Vargas, who delivered remarks, and the ship's sponsor, Mrs. Melissa DeVeau, who officially named the vessel by performing the traditional champagne bottle break alongside the ship. The BAY STATE is part of a five-tanker contract between NASSCO and APT that encompasses the design and construction of five state-of-the-art product carriers, each with a deadweight tonnage of 50,000 and capable of carrying 330,000 barrels of cargo. Adopting an innovative “ECO” design, these 610-foot vessels significantly enhance fuel efficiency. The first three ECO Class tankers are already operational, while the ambitious project’s fifth tanker is projected to be completed and delivered in 2017.
