On March 30, 2018, a US Coast Guard aircrew successfully executed a medevac operation for a crew member aboard the tanker 'Garden State', located around 118 nautical miles southwest of Southwest Pass, Louisiana. The urgent call, reporting the individual experiencing significant vision loss in one eye, prompted the watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans to spring into action. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was dispatched from the Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans, while an HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircrew was mobilized from Coast Guard Aviation Training Center in Mobile, Alabama. Upon arrival, the helicopter crew conducted a hoist operation, securing the patient and ensuring his swift transport to University Hospital. Fortunately, the individual is now reported to be in good condition following the emergency intervention.

On July 25, General Dynamics NASSCO proudly announced the delivery of its seventh vessel within a little over a year. The latest addition, named the Garden State, is an ECO Class tanker specifically constructed for American Petroleum Tankers, a long-term client of the shipyard. This significant event took place during a commemorative signing ceremony. Since June of the previous year, the San Diego-based shipyard has successfully completed deliveries of three different classes of ships, further solidifying its reputation in maritime construction.
