The Great-Sailor: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

Last week, a hijacking attempt on the oil tanker 'Great Sailor' was thwarted in the Straits of Malacca, close to Nongsa Point on Batam Island. While the vessel was navigating eastbound through this crucial shipping lane, the vigilant crew spotted a suspicious fast motorboat approaching. Promptly, the captain raised the alarm and executed evasive maneuvers. Utilizing one of the ship's floodlights, the crew illuminated the boat, forcing the assailants to abandon their plan and retreat. Following this alarming incident, Malaysian authorities issued a warning to other vessels in the region. Fortunately, since the attempted hijacking, no additional incidents have been reported. The 'Great Sailor' had departed Singapore on January 4, 2017, and subsequently anchored off the coast of Sihanoukville on January 8.
