The 'Key North' managed to navigate to Moen Verft AS in Ottersøy under its own power despite incurring damage to its port side hull. Notably, no tug assistance was required during this process. On January 23 at 7:30 p.m., the vessel 'Liselotte Essberger' experienced an engine room fire alarm shortly after entering the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel. The ship, which was carrying a cargo of benzol from Terneuzen to Porvoo, activated its automatic fire extinguishing system due to vapor escaping from a boiler, leading to the alarming incident. Following this event, the ship had its classification status revoked. To assist, the tugs 'Kitzeberg' and 'Holtenau', dispatched from Kiel, took the 'Liselotte Essberger' in tow on January 24 around midday in Schülp. Throughout the day, the 'Holtenau' towed the vessel eastward toward Kiel, with 'Kitzeberg' positioned as the stern tug.
