Navios Maritime Acquisition Corporation Secures Long-Term Charters for MR2 Product Tankers

Dec 22, 2014 08:15

Navios Maritime Acquisition Corporation, a prominent player in the tanker shipping industry, has successfully chartered two of its MR2 product tankers, the NAVE PYXIS and the NAVE SEXTANS. These vessels have been contracted to a reputable counterparty for a duration of three years at a daily rate of $16,294 net. This partnership is projected to yield around $7.0 million in annual EBITDA, translating to an impressive total of approximately $20.9 million in aggregate EBITDA throughout the charter period, contingent on current operating expenses and 360 revenue-generating days per year. Angeliki Frangou, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Navios Acquisition, remarked, “The tanker rate landscape has significantly improved, and we are capitalizing on this trend by securing long-term charters at favorable rates. As the market evolves, we anticipate adjusting our charter durations to include more extended contracts as opportunities arise.” For the year 2015, Navios Acquisition has already secured 66.9% of its available days under charter agreements, with the average charter period across its fleet being 1.1 years.
