In a remarkable display of coordination and swift action, a Coast Guard boatcrew, together with the Southern Marin Fire Department, successfully performed a medevac operation on November 10, 2014. The mission took place about eight miles off the coast of San Francisco when the crew received an urgent call for medical assistance for a 52-year-old sailor aboard the tanker 'Overseas Boston'. At around 8 a.m., the Coast Guard Sector San Francisco Command Center mobilized their resources after learning the sailor was experiencing chest pains. To respond to the emergency, the Coast Guard Station Golden Gate dispatched a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat, which included two paramedics from the Southern Marin Fire Department. Upon reaching the tanker, the crew safely transferred the patient from 'Overseas Boston' onto the motor lifeboat. Subsequently, he was transported to emergency medical services located in Sausalito for further treatment. This operation highlights the bravery and efficiency of maritime emergency responders in critical situations.
