Gunvor Trading House has initiated legal proceedings against Torm and Valero in a Texas court, alleging that a shipment of 300,000 barrels of naphtha did not conform to the agreed specifications, resulting in significant financial losses. The trading house claims it suffered a setback of $1.65 million due to this substandard delivery. The naphtha was loaded aboard the tanker "Torm Thunder" in September 2018. Once the cargo reached its destination, it was found lacking in quality as per the specifications outlined in the contract. Gunvor contends that the naphtha provided by Valero was defective and that the "Torm Thunder" was inadequately equipped to handle these deficiencies.
