Working Conditions Aboard the Alte-Weser

On October 15, 2015, a grave accident occurred at 8:50 a.m. involving a crew member aboard the 'Alte Weser' while performing buoy exchange operations on the Weser River. The 44-year-old sailor sustained a severe head injury in the incident. The lifeboat 'Hermann-Rudolf-Meyer' promptly responded, bringing a medical team to the scene to administer first aid. Following the initial treatment, the injured crew member was evacuated at the Bremerhaven container terminal using a fire brigade ladder. He was subsequently transported to Bremerhaven Hospital for further medical care.
