Krebs Helios Departs Büsum Port Following Minor Incident
The buoy tender Krebs Helios successfully left Büsum Port at 18:15 on October 4, 2023, setting course for Rostock after a recent allision. The vessel, recognized by its IMO number, has resumed operations under normal sailing conditions.
Incident Involving Krebs Helios and Maret in Büsum Port
On the morning of October 2, 2018, at approximately 7 a.m., the lighthouse tender "Krebs Helios" experienced an allision with the fishing vessel "Maret – SC 14" (IMO: 211294100) while maneuvering into the port of Büsum. The incident occurred due to unexpected strong wind gusts that caused the "Krebs Helios" to collide with the moored fishing boat. As a result, the "Maret," a 35 gross ton vessel, sustained damage to its wooden bulwark, while the "Krebs Helios" only incurred minor scratches. Following the allision, a thorough inspection of the "Maret" was initiated to assess any potential hull damage, with plans to haul the vessel onto a slip in Büsum during that week.
Krebs Helios Grounds Off Waabs: No Pollution Reported
On September 11, 2018, at approximately 5 a.m., the 'Krebs Helios,' a buoy layer, ran aground near Waabs in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde municipality. The vessel was en route from Rostock, having departed at 5:15 p.m. on September 10, and was heading toward Eckernförde when it navigated into shallow waters, grounding at coordinates 54° 30.93' N 010° 0.71' E. Fortunately, there were no reports of leaks or pollution from the incident. In response, police vessels 'Bayreuth,' 'Brunswik,' and 'Staberhuk' were dispatched, along with DGzRS lifeboats 'Berlin' and 'Eckernförde' from the Laboe and Eckernförde stations. The 'Berlin' deployed its daughter boat to assist in establishing a towing connection with tugboat 'Bülk' (IMO: 8701284), which had been summoned from Kiel shortly after the grounding at 6:15 a.m. By 8:30 a.m., the buoy layer was successfully refloated and repositioned in deeper water for further inspections. The tugboat 'Bülk' commenced its return to Kiel at 11 a.m., while patrol boats 'Staberhuk' and 'Brunswik' stayed on site to monitor the situation. Around 12:30 p.m., the 'Krebs Helios' safely entered the port of Eckernförde. Reports indicate that the captain may have missed a crucial course change near Kiel lighthouse around 1 a.m., leading the vessel towards the coast of Schwansen.
