Schall Experiences Mechanical Failure Near Borkum
On June 5, 2011, the cargo vessel 'Schall' faced a critical issue with its cooling water system while navigating the Wester-Ems. The situation necessitated an emergency anchoring between buoys 13 and 15 to prevent further complications. Promptly responding to the distress call, the lifeboat 'Alfried Krupp' was dispatched at around 7 a.m. to offer assistance. The 'Alfried Krupp' successfully towed the disabled 'Schall' back to the safety of the port of Borkum by midday, ensuring the vessel's safe arrival.
