Urgent Medical Evacuation Near Grömitz for Injured 'Seeadler' Crew Member

Apr 11, 2020 17:52

A dramatic rescue unfolded on April 7, 2020, when a crew member aboard the fishing vessel 'Seeadler' sustained a serious facial injury after a fall down a staircase, approximately six miles east of Grömitz. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the DGzRS lifeboat 'Hans Hackmack' was dispatched around 4 p.m. to assist with the medical evacuation. In a rapid response, the lifeboat departed from its port and made its way to a predetermined rendezvous point where the injured crew member was located. Thanks to the calm sea conditions, the lifeboat was able to approach the 'Seeadler' smoothly, allowing for a swift transfer of the victim onboard. After receiving initial care from the lifeboat crew, the injured seafarer was transported back to Grömitz, where an ambulance awaited to take him to the hospital for further treatment. This incident highlights the efficiency and dedication of German maritime rescue services. Emergency Medvac Operation for Fisherman Near Rostock

Aug 06, 2011 10:17

On August 4, a coordinated rescue effort took place off the Rostock coast when the fishing vessel 'Condor' called for assistance due to an ill crew member. The situation unfolded seven miles from Warnemuende, leading to a quick response from the rescue vessel 'Seeadler' and the lifeboat 'Arkona' from Warnemuende. The two-man crew aboard the 'Condor', originally from Burgstaaken, utilized their VHF radio to request urgent medical help. As the 'Arkona' made its way to the scene, the 'Seeadler' remained alongside the stricken fishing vessel. A rigid inflatable boat (RIB) was launched from the 'Seeadler' to execute the medevac. The fisherman received immediate medical treatment, including oxygen, during the transfer. Within just 20 minutes, he was successfully taken to Warnemuende and handed over to a waiting ambulance for further care.
