On February 24, 2021, the recovery mission led by the vessel 'Seelöwe' to retrieve the sunken motoryacht 'Melanie', once an island taxi in Langeoog, ended in disappointment. The 'Melanie' went down in the island's port on February 19, prompting the need for rescue efforts. Divers had previously inspected the hull and did not find any significant leaks. Despite the operation employing five pumps, the yacht remained submerged, leading to the termination of the recovery effort at 5:30 PM. N-Ports had sent the 'Seelöwe' to Langeoog early that morning, where divers placed lifting straps beneath the yacht's hull and connected them to the vessel's crane. Unfortunately, the crane's capacity was insufficient to extract the hull from the sediment. Earlier on February 24, the fuel tanks of the 'Melanie' had also been emptied in a bid to facilitate the lifting operation.
